Ingredients
- 🥛 Plain full-fat yogurt, chilled: 300 ml (1¼ cups / 10 fl oz)
- 🥒 Cucumber, grated & squeezed dry: 200 g (1½ cups / 7 oz)
- 🌿 Fresh mint, finely chopped: 1 tbsp (3 g)
- 🌿 Cilantro, finely chopped: 1 tbsp (3 g)
- 🌿 Roasted cumin powder: ½–1 tsp (1.5–3 g)
- 🧂 Fine salt: ¼–½ tsp (1.5–3 g), to taste
- 🧂 Black salt (kala namak), pinch (optional, chaat vibe)
- 🌶 Green chili, very finely chopped: ½–1 (optional)
- 🍬 Sugar, pinch (balances tang, optional)
- ⚫ Black pepper, pinch (optional)
- ❄️ Ice-cold water or milk: 1–2 tbsp (15–30 ml), if needed to loosen
Preparation
- 1️⃣ Prep cucumber: Grate, sprinkle a little salt, rest 2 min, then squeeze out excess liquid.
- 2️⃣ Whisk base: In a bowl whisk 🥛 yogurt smooth; add 1 tbsp cold water if too thick.
- 3️⃣ Fold: Stir in 🥒 cucumber, 🌿 mint, 🌿 cilantro, 🌿 cumin, and season with 🧂 salt (plus black salt/pepper/chili if using).
- 4️⃣ Chill 5 min and serve dusted with a pinch of 🌿 cumin on top.
