Description
These soft, homemade garlic rolls were a Sunday classic on Balkan tables. Fluffy inside, golden outside, and brushed with real garlic butter — perfect for sharing or soaking up soup.
Ingredients
🥛 200 ml warm milk (¾ cup)
🧈 50 g unsalted butter, melted (3 ½ tbsp)
🥚 1 large egg
🧄 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
🌾 400 g all-purpose flour (3 ⅓ cups)
🧂 1 tsp salt
🍯 1 tsp sugar
🍞 7 g active dry yeast (1 packet)
Preparation
1️⃣ Activate yeast: Stir sugar and yeast into the warm milk. Let sit for 10 minutes until bubbly.
2️⃣ Make the dough: Add the egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until smooth.
3️⃣ Knead & rise: Knead for 5–6 minutes, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
4️⃣ Shape rolls: Divide into 12 pieces and form into soft rolls.
5️⃣ Add garlic: Mix chopped garlic with a spoon of butter and brush over each roll.
6️⃣ Bake: Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
