Description
🍅🥔 Juicy homemade meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce, served with creamy mashed potatoes — pure comfort food that’s easy to make and loved by everyone!
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
🥩 500g ground beef
🥚 1 egg
🍞 50g breadcrumbs
🧅 1 small onion, finely chopped
🧄 1 clove garlic, minced
🧂 Salt and pepper, to taste
🌿 Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
For the tomato sauce:
🍅 400ml tomato passata or pureed tomatoes
🧅 1 small onion, finely chopped
🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
🛢️ 2 tablespoons olive oil
🧂 Salt and pepper, to taste
🌿 1 teaspoon dried oregano or basil
For the mashed potatoes:
🥔 600g potatoes, peeled and chopped
🥛 100ml milk
🧈 50g butter
🧂 Salt, to taste
Preparation
1. 🥣 In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and parsley. Form small meatballs.
2. 🔥 Heat olive oil in a pan and brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
3. 🍳 In the same pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add tomato passata, salt, pepper, and oregano. Stir well.
4. 🍅 Return the meatballs to the pan, cover, and simmer in the sauce for 20–25 minutes.
5. 🥔 Meanwhile, boil potatoes in salted water until soft (about 15–20 minutes).
6. 🥄 Drain the potatoes, add butter and warm milk, then mash until smooth and creamy.
7. 🍽️ Serve the meatballs hot over a bed of mashed potatoes with plenty of tomato sauce.
