Description
Caprese, but not basic. Grandma always added her secret: homemade basil oil that turned a few slices of tomato and mozzarella into something that felt like summer itself. It’s bright, creamy, and so fresh it makes store-bought salad cry. Serve it cold, and serve it proud.
Ingredients
🍅 3 ripe tomatoes, sliced (about 450 g / 1 lb)
🧀 200 g (7 oz) fresh mozzarella, sliced
🌿 1 handful fresh basil leaves
🫒 3 tbsp olive oil
🧂 Salt and black pepper to taste
🍋 Optional: 1 tsp balsamic vinegar or lemon zest
Preparation
1️⃣ Layer 🍅 tomato and 🧀 mozzarella slices on a plate, slightly overlapping.
2️⃣ In a small blender or mortar, mix 🌿 basil leaves with 🫒 olive oil and a pinch of 🧂 salt until bright green.
3️⃣ Drizzle basil oil over the salad.
4️⃣ Add more 🧂 salt and pepper on top.
5️⃣ Optional: finish with 🍋 lemon zest or a few drops of balsamic.
